Liz McKinley promoted to Counsel

The firm is delighted to announce the promotion of Liz McKinley to our newly created role of Counsel, effective from 1st May. Liz, who joined the firm in 2009 and qualified as both a European Patent Attorney and UK Patent Attorney in 2013, is a member of the Life Sciences group at Carpmaels & Ransford.

Liz has vast experience managing large, complex portfolios of patent families, in Europe and worldwide, for small start-ups, big pharma and academic institutions. She works on all aspects of patent prosecution, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications, as well as on cases in post-grant opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office, in the context of representing both patent proprietors and opponents. She provides thorough strategic, legal and technical advice that is truly tailored to each individual client’s needs.

The role of Counsel has been introduced to recognise the outstanding talent of our more experienced attorneys looking to build their practice in a role that provides an alternative to Partnership. Liz’s promotion reflects the high esteem in which she is held by both her clients and colleagues for her legal and technical expertise.

Speaking about the promotion, Hugh Goodfellow, Managing Partner at the firm said: “We’d like to really congratulate Liz on this promotion. This is a really exciting new role and I am confident that Liz will make a great success of it, as our first ever promotion of this kind.”
