Having always worked within financial services, and much larger organisations, I was keen to join a smaller company and particularly one in a brand new sector.

Carpmaels & Ransford has an impressive reputation and I am delighted to be here. I joined two weeks before the covid pandemic and the beginning of lockdown so it was quite a surreal experience, particularly as I had two very young daughters at the time. I was, and continue to be, impressed with the firm’s caring and collaborative culture. I love the flexibility that I have in my role and how this helps to balance work with my personal life and responsibilities.

As the Head of People, I am responsible for our People function. We have a broad remit and the function comprises of Recruitment, Learning and Development, People Operations and People Partnering teams. Working in partnership with the business, we support the strategic and operational priorities of the firm and help to influence and implement both the business and people strategies. I am also passionate about diversity and inclusion and love that my role enables me to be part of the firm’s journey in D&I. I find my job both interesting and rewarding and am excited to see how Carpmaels continues to grow and develop over time.

I love my role and the variety of what I do day to day.

Given the size of the firm, the breadth of my role is so much greater than it was when I was working at large corporates. It also means that I interact regularly with colleagues of varying seniority across Carpmaels & Ransford.

I have been particularly impressed by the leadership and culture here. Everyone has been so welcoming since I joined. Two weeks after I arrived, we all had to work from home due to Covid-19 and I, like many, have young children to look after. Carpmaels & Ransford has been flexible and supportive to all employees during this pandemic and has really shown strong leadership and compassion to all throughout. I have seen good examples of collaborative working, speedy decision making and thoughtful communications.
