Having always worked within financial services, and much larger organisations, I was keen to join a smaller company and particularly one in a brand new sector.
Carpmaels & Ransford has an impressive reputation and I also liked the sound of the environment which was described as friendly and collaborative.
It has been quite a surreal experience for me since joining as I have been working from home for the entire time due to lockdown (bar my first two weeks). Despite this, I have definitely felt welcomed and very much a part of both the HR team and the wider organisation. I have been impressed with the firm-wide communications which reflect the caring and collaborative culture of Carpmaels & Ransford. There have also been great examples of social interactions and events despite lockdown (online yoga and pilates classes, book club, webinars, water cooler chats, etc).
My job has two main elements. I am the Senior HR Business Partner. This means that I work closely with the Partners, Heads of Departments and wider management team as a trusted advisor influencing and helping to implement both the business and people strategies. I also head up the HR Operations function. This team manages day to day HR operations, is responsible for HR processes and policies and gets involved in the majority of HR projects. A recent project which is almost complete is the implementation of a new HR system.
