Carpmaels & Ransford is very pleased to announce the promotion of Adam Ellwood, Clara Hughes, Lawrence Paleschi and Joanna Rowley to Senior Associate, effective from 1st July 2023. Our new Senior Associates are all European Patent Attorneys and registered UPC representatives.
Adam is part of the Pharmaceuticals team and spends the majority of his time defending and opposing European patents which protect important drug molecules. Adam also has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications having commercial significance, as well as advising clients on freedom to operate and validity.
Clara is a member of the Engineering and Tech practice group and her work focusses on medical device technology. Clara is involved in the prosecution of portfolios relating to drug delivery devices, technologies for treating blood clots and diagnostic systems for analysing single cells using mass cytometry. Clara handles patent prosecution both in Europe and outside of Europe, including China and Japan.
Lawrence’s work is also within the Engineering and Tech practice group and encompasses diverse fields of technology, including machine learning, quantum technologies, energy storage, semiconductor devices, protein sequencing, and medical diagnostics. He has experience at all stages of the patent lifecycle, including drafting and prosecution of patent applications, as well as defending and attacking granted patents in EPO opposition and appeal proceedings.
Jo works in the Life Sciences team, specialising in biotech inventions such as cell therapies, antibody technologies, and diagnostic assays. Jo’s practice involves all stages of the patent process. She is experienced in prosecuting European patents and coordinating global patent portfolios, as well as defending and attacking patents in EPO opposition proceedings.
